Outside it’s cold, gray, and wet.
I’m not ready for gloomy weather.
I’d much rather be following my writing buddies,
Laurie and Lorraine,
across the sands of Oceanside Beach.
Beneath the wide-open Oregon sky,
wearing blue raincoats, all.

Nope, that’s Three Arch Rocks. Back in July. When the sky was blue and the air was clear and my heart was light. Sigh.

How lovely. I’m wishing I were walking on that beach with you…

It was so pretty. Windy, at times, but always beautiful.

Oh gosh. I was imagining the same thing today: a walk on the beach with my blue-coated buddies. Look at that beautiful blue sky, too! I’m not doing well with the impending drear…

Really? We’re experiencing mind-meld? It would be so nice to be there again and away from the drear. I’m quite nervous about the gloom and know I need to be extra proactive to protect my sanity. Look out, hoop!

I’m not sure I’d wish my mind on anyone right now, but yeah… I went for a walk before picking Catgirl up at school yesterday and I kept thinking beach…beach…beach. So it was very cool to see that beach — our beach — here on your blog. I’m thinking I might have to invest in one of those SAD lights this year.

I thought the same thing when I wrote “mind-meld.” Like maybe I shouldn’t be wishing that on Laurie. See, it IS mind-meld!
I know what you mean about the SAD light but I’m going to try and get out every day. It was snowing/raining yesterday and I had the nicest walk and felt so much better. But the next few months will be a slog, for sure.

Yep…although the fog certainly looks neat out there…I wish our fall had lasted longer (I know, I’m spoiled).

Fog is very cool. But for some reason I’m not with the program this year. I need more sunshine and colorful leaves showing their brilliance in that sunshine.
Maybe we can get a petition going…

Boy, I hear you! It’s hard to see all the dead trees…even the few which aren’t (weren’t, now) don’t quite make up for the rows of brown, curled leaves.

I walked in the snow/rain yesterday and had such fun looking at the colorful soggy leaves on the sidewalk. I usually enjoy the crunch underfoot but it was a cool seeing the leaves that way. Go figure!

I see this, and I need a blue jacket, a blue sky and that beautiful beach.

This just brings such a smile to my heart, Tracy! We’ll have to start saving our pennies for next summer. Yeah!

We need smiles, that’s for sure. It’s snowing today! Ugh. Not in the mood. Maybe I’ll just leave this photo up on my screen and pretend I’m far, far away.

If it makes you feel better, the sky only looks like that in the morning. Usually by afternoon the winds have come in and the sky has clouded up. At least this time of year.
April, who will be teaching in Oceanside next July!

Thanks for the reality check. We get lots of sunshine in CO but I’m feeling particularly twitchy this year when it gets cold and gray. Guess I just needed a few more days of sunny autumn.
Lucky you on teaching in Oceanside next July. Is it the conference sponsored by that author guy? Can’t remember his name but he was there at the same time this year.

Yeah, I think it’s the same one you mean. Oregon Coast Children’s Book Writers Workshop.
