Let’s see:
Saturday night we took Wildebeest to the Zombie Crawl.
Yesterday Wildebeest stayed home sick
and asked me for a book to read.
He said, “It has to be tragic and funny.”
I handed him I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak.
He finished it.
And loved it.
I’d say I’m batting a 1000.
Nice work, Mom 🙂

I love that he’s still open to your input, even if it’s only on occasion. Gotta keep that foot in the door, right?

tragic/funny = the best combo

I agree. It’s cool he phrased his preference that way, too.

Yeah, beast! I got points this weekend for bringing THE LOST BOYS DVD for the boys to watch in the car on the way home from Boise, but they took them away after watching GALAXY QUEST….
I’d be afraid to give Zusak to T-Boy. If he didn’t like it I’d have to disown him.

Lost Boys! My sons LOVED that movie. I totally forgot about it, and now I want to see it again.

Me, too. When I saw it at the video store I knew it would be perfect for him. He’s been reading Cirq du Freak. He watched it two days in a row.

One step forward, two steps back. Such is the Mom Dance.
Wildebeest claims disdain for many, many things I love so I guess my skin is thick enough I could take it. That’s not to say I wasn’t thrilled when he loved the book.
