I’ve been looking forward to this day for quite some time. We’re going to start gaining daylight again! And what better way to celebrate than with a House Finch Party?!
A house part–great idea! My finches would enjoy mingling with yours, don’t you think? Poor things: they’re soggy, and so’s their seed. I’d try to snap a backyard picture, but they fly away whenever I open the door.
M thinks like you do, that the days start getting longer now.
I think the best way to get through winter pre-spring is to be like Scott Westerfeld and Justine Larbalestier, successful authors with homes in New York and Sydney–and avoid pre-spring altogether!
beautiful picture! I love the one with the red chest.
Over here I put on my balcony water for humming birds and they are always there between my flowers.
The red chests are beautiful, aren’t they? That’s so wonderful you have hummingbirds visit your balcony. I have some in my garden in the summer but they’re not regular visitors.

Ooh, Barb. I think that Northern/Southern Hemisphere split is a grand idea.

Thank you! I took a whole bunch this morning and got some good ones. Finches move so quickly that many are blurred in-flight shots.
