We just survived an incredibly difficult weekend
and are all more tired than usual but (mostly) intact.
Here's to a new week and a fresh start.
I'm trying to keep this in mind:
Children begin by loving their parents;
as they grow older they judge them;
sometimes they forgive them.

This reminds me of my son’s eighth-grade and ninth-grade years. I’m not sure which year was worse. They were both horrifically bad.
This year, things are better. Which is not to say that I do not have moments, sometimes each day, when I want to tear my hair out. But the tension and back-and-forth has decreased substantially. I hope it does for you, soon, too.

Thank you so much for stopping by to commiserate and offer encouragement. It’s been a constant ebb and flow over the years, and this weekend was particularly difficult. Or, as you put it, “horrifically bad.”
I’m glad things are better in your family. Overall, we’re doing better, too, but these episodes are sharp reminders of the delicate balance that is parenthood.

Those teenage years…I think they can definitely be a series of battles. I hope the next skirmish is easier!

You’re so right about the teenage years, Robin. Sometime long, long ago I was a teenager and I seem to recall some skirmishes.
Thank you for the support.

Nah, I wouldn’t look at it that way. Everyone’s different and there’s no reason to assume stuff will get crazy. Sure, there will be bumps in the road but that’s just life.
Thanks much for the hug, friend.
