In honor of his departure, here’s the quote that says it all:
“Reports that say that something hasn’t happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don’t know we don’t know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones,” Rumsfeld said on Feb. 12, 2002.
HEY, RUMMY – DON’T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU ON THE WAY OUT!
Ha! I posted something using this very same quote a while back:

Goodbye and good riddance.

How funny! I very much admire your ongoing efforts to find common ground but that was definitely a stretch!

Turns out that’s true … it’s the same “certain knowledge” that we had five years ago.

Yep, he pretty much covered all the bases with that one. Thanks for giving me another example of why he will not be missed.

ooh, can I join in the Rummy departure party with this one–
“I am not going to give you a number for it because it’s not my business to do intelligent work.” -asked to estimate the number of Iraqi insurgents while testifying before Congress
Er thanks, Rummy. We noticed.

That’s great, Lorraine! I’m so glad that I can laugh about these things now (sorta) instead of weeping into my beer.

R’s quote is idiotic.

Exactly. I’ve been known to mangle my thoughts/sentences but don’t think I’ve ever dug myself so far into idiocy. It’s a universal talent with that cabal, though.

Uhmm….Whaa? Wow, I’m going to miss all that enlightenment. How will I ever comprehend the whole known/unknown issue now?

Well, C.K., you’ll just have to muddle through on your own. But something tells me you’re going to do just fine! 🙂
