It’s still snowing here and the boys are out tunneling in the yard. Their winter break has officially begun, with two extra days tacked onto the front!
Here’s my patio:

and here’s my garden off the patio:

This spring the butterflies will flit among the blooming iris, yarrow, lilies, vinca, coreopsis, valerian, and all the other flowers that will grow strong with the help of the 26″ of snow we’ve received so far.
I guess I can wait. There’s really no choice, is there?
WOW!!
We are having oddly warm weather, and the ski resorts are not happy at all!
I have my old sleds out on the porch, but them seem out of place without snow. We are supposed to have rain all weekend!
Enjoy all the white stuff! : )

I know what you mean about the sleds looking out of place. Last week we had warm temps and our shovel was leaning against the house; definitely out of place. It’s getting a workout this week!

Oh, dear. While you’ve been out walking in your Winter Wonderland, I’ve just come in from pruning my (still blooming) roses and dead-heading my pansies.

Ah, the zen joys of deadheading. I actually still had pin-cushion flowers (can’t remember real name) blooming this past week even though we’d gotten several snows. But I’m thinking they’re goners now.

26 inches! It’s a good thing you’re tall.
I hope it’s good packing snow ball making snow and you and the kids get out there and get busy.

I’m tall but it’s still a tough slog. Some layers are packing better than others – we’ve got powder on top.

Very pretty! Tunneling through snow is SO much more fun than going to school!

Whoa. Look at that. Much prettier than the gray, rainy day outside my window, though.

Sorry you had gray yesterday, Dot. Has it brightened yet today?

Isn’t it, though? And the quiet was so gorgeous, too.

I won’t say I’m missing our lack of the white stuff so far this year but it does look beautiful. Are you tempted to go out and tunnel with them? That sounds like so much fun.

Oh my gosh! That’s a lot of snow! We got the storm here in Salt Lake City just before you did and all we got was a few inches of steady snow-globe kind of snow. I bet your boys are having a BLAST!
A vinca is a flower? Is it the flower in your Verla’s pic? I always wondered what your user name meant–that’s lovely!

I’m glad about your snowfall since my neighbors drove to SLC on Tuesday and, fortunately, missed the storm.
Yes, my Verla user pic is a vinca major. It’s a tough, drought-tolerant ground cover that’s just beautiful.

Is that what you are like, resiliant, and beautiful? Just say, yes!

I picked my user name because I love the plant and I think “Vinca” is such a cool word to say. I asked my neighbor and family to call me that but only my neighbor remembers to do it now and again. Call me Vinca! (and if that implies resilience and beauty, then so be it!) š

I might get out there today. Yesterday I was feeling less than energetic but today we’ve got sunshine so I think I’ll join them.

Tracy! How is everything holding up with the snow?
I had to wonder as they’ve been predicting more and more for your state. I hope all is well. I see more snow days in your future.
