Gorgeous sunshine-filled day today. Here’s the naked ash tree that shades portions of the garden and patio in the summer

Elder went inside but left this arrangement of creatures atop the snow

Younger busily tunneling. At one point there was a cave-in and I pulled him out by the ankles

Winter days don’t get much better than this. And now that we’re gaining daylight, I’m especially happy. Belated HAPPY SOLSTICE!
Oh that looks soooo fun! What a great way to start Christmas break!

Those are spectacular pictures! Definitely, they should be icons and maybe holiday cards next year.
We’re trying to endure the harsh realities of winter here in the O.C. As I walked past a newsstand, the O.C. Register caught my eye. Front page, top of the fold, a huge photo of a bank building’s thermometer blinking: 32 degrees. It’s hilarious, isn’t it, that a winter temp in late December garners that kind of attention?
Warmest of holiday wishes to you and yours. Oh, and definitely, lots of prayers for world peace.

Thanks for the warm wishes, Melodye. And I remember that SoCal world with its moderate temperatures; there are days when I’d love to live there again (mostly when I need an ocean fix).

Oooo, pretty! I can’t let my children see these pics–they are so sick of rain and hungry for snow.

Sorry you guys aren’t getting any snow. There was an article in the paper a couple weeks ago saying we wouldn’t be getting any more snow until late this winter (because of El Nino). HA!
