No Hope

Just discovered that John Edwards is dropping out of the presidential race today.  While I didn’t believe he had a chance to get the nomination, it was very important that he brought important issues and ideas to the debate.  He held Obama and Clinton accountable.

Now it’s only them.  They can go all corporate and centrist, and no one will be there to call them on it.

Oh yeah, and there’s Romney and McCain, too.

That hope I felt the other day is nowhere to be found.

  1. Ah, but all that soaring rhetoric, the pretty promises about change…
In the end, it’s all about YOU being the change you want to see, don’t ya know. Sadly, that’s not enough to compensate for all the oppositional, outrageous work that happens behind the scenes.

  3. Politics is a strange combination of soaring hope and ongoing depression… (I’ll resist the urge to say “kinda like writing” because, oh boy, everything CAN be kinda like writing.) I’m excited that we’ll be getting a change…OTOH…you know the candidates you really want are never going to go anywhere. I tend to like the really liberal underdog, but I always vote for the candidate I think is likely to win and that I can stand…
