Yesterday I finished the draft of my WIP and set it aside for at least one week but probably two!

Met online friends in person this week and enjoyed myself very much both times!  Hooray for Jennifer, Robin, Stephanie, Ingrid, Jean, and Sarah!

Cannibalized (with her permission) one of Robin’s throwaway comments and this morning used it as a jumping-off point for 1k words!  Have no idea if it’ll go anywhere but it was nice trying to get another voice/story going while the WIP simmers in the background!

Visited R in nursing home this afternoon and for the first time in weeks ( ! ) I witnessed him up and walking (with a walker).  He’s gained 4 pounds and the PT says this week has marked a real improvement in R’s strength! 

Tomorrow I’m taking Zebu and friend plus Wildebeest and friend to Elitch’s amusement park.  (I can’t bring myself to use an exclamation point for that news item).  Wish me well.

    • I had a great time visiting with you, too. It was great talking nothing but books and writing. As for that great line, well, I wrote about it the first day but realized that’s not a good approach for me since my ideas wander in about 30 directions at once and any story I tried writing would be all over the map. I’ve got that stuff on file and will go back sometime to see what story is there for me. Because we KNOW there’s a story there!

  3. Wow, you’re really doing it! A thousand words! I can’t wait to read it. I bet it’s hilarious.. and creepy… and weird. You’re so funny!
    I really regret that we’ve met twice and both times I forgot to ask about R. He’s been on my mind and I’m so glad to hear he’s doing so much better! What a relief.
    Oh. Elitch’s. Yup. I can’t spare and exclamation point either. I do wish you well.

    • As I just commented to Robin, I’ve abandoned that great line for another project. I need to know a bit more about something before embarking on a novel. I thought I wanted a distraction while my WIP rests for a week or two, but realized I wanted a new project I could really get into.
      Thanks for your good thoughts about R. We’re both hanging in there. 🙂
      And I survived Elith’s!

    And while you got to meet up with a whole list of wonderful LJers, I met up with Laurie. Sure wish we could ALL meet! One of these days we will. 🙂

      • Yeah, we had an all too quick hour at St. Honore bakery before she spent a whirlwind zoo and Japanese garden day with her family. Made me definitely want more time to hang out to talk with her and with you too! One of these days it will happen. I’m sure! 🙂

    • Thanks for the congratulations, Barb! It’s actually about the fourth draft of that book. Maybe you’ve had one of those projects that demands draft after draft after draft…..before you really know the story? 🙂
