Good Thing I Wasn’t Drinking

Watched the “debate” with the family. Before it started I reserved “my friends” as my BINGO word. Zippy chose “earmark,” Zebu’s word was “maverick” and Wildebeest alternated words throughout the 90 minutes.

If it’d been a drinking game, I wouldn’t be typing this right now. I’d be passed out on my desk, drooling on the keyboard. I lost count at 17 “my friends.”

Zippy was ahead for a while with “earmark” but then fell behind and a few minutes into the program Zebu pointed out “Tom” would’ve been a good choice since McCain and Brokaw were chumming it up.

The menfolk in this household can try to spin the situation all they want, my friends, but I was clearly the official debate BINGO champ!

    • Me, neither. Plus I was with the whole family so I watched my mouth (a bit) more. We were mostly screaming at Tom who was so clearly biased toward giving McCain time to respond. That was pretty nauseating.
And that moment when McBush pointed to Obama and referred to him as That One. Scary look inside McBush’s angry psyche.

      • I agree. The scariest thing I’ve seen/heard this week was an interview with a former Hillary supporter in Virginia on NPR. She said she couldn’t vote for Obama because he would be representing “his race,” and “his people.” That just blew me away…. I guess I still have a tendency–cynical as I am–to overestimate the American voter.

  2. Oh, my gosh, and I thought we were original. Mike and I actually did pop open a beer and he sipped to “my friends” and I sipped to “maverick”. I didn’t get a drop – not one maverick! – but Mike could’ve opened a second bottle, maybe even a third. But he just pantomimed sips instead. Yeah, he’d have been well-buzzed if he’d really drunk to every “my friends.”
I’m taking my girls out of school today and we’re catching the bus downtown for the Obama rally. I wish you could go!

    • Wish I could be there, too. I’ve got an appointment in Boulder and multiple boy appointments. Don’t want to add another event to the mix.
Thank you and your girls for getting out there today! I’m feeling tentatively optimistic about what’s ahead! HOORAY!
(Glad Mike handled his “my friends” buzz last night!)
