Can’t you smell that smell?
I gave this dog three baths today.
Coco’s apparently the kind of dog who doesn’t just like skunk-stink on her face.
She likes the full-body experience.
She found leftover skunk-stench in the yard and rolled in it. Twice.
Coco is Wildebeest’s dog.
Doesn’t that make perfect sense?
Anyway, he helped with this last bath.
When we finished he said, "That was no fun at all. Not even a good bonding moment."
I didn’t say anything but between you and me, I felt a bond.
There will be a special place in heaven for you!
I think it was a bonding moment.

Yep, I could definitely smell the “bonding” above the stink. Thanks for validating it, Laura!

What a beautiful puppy! So did you finally get rid of the smell? As I read, I was remembering that I’d heard that either lemon juice or tomato juice gets rid of the smell. I can’t remember which. But I’m thinking 1) that would be a lot of juice to bathe the dog, and 2) I’m wondering which smell I’d prefer over that of skunk. Lemon, or tomato?
Funny story.

Yeah, I think I’ve heard something about tomato juice being a smell-eradicator, too.
But skunk smell…that stuff would live through the Apocalypse. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
After this, I’ll bet Wildebeest’s stinky socks don’t even raise an eyebrow.

I’m getting tired of the whiffs of this stuff. I scratched the other doggie’s head this morning and realized my hand stunk. Again. The odor seems to be seeping back to the surface, or something equally evil.
His socks do smell. I avoid them.

The stuff we used at first worked but then she rolled in the grass in our yard again (and again) so we tried something else (hydrogen peroxide/baking soda/liquid soap concoction) and it worked even better. Now they’re monitored when they go outside until we figure out where that spot is.
I’ve used tomato juice in the past and it works, too. Doesn’t smell all that good, though, and it’s expensive.

Poor thing! Even his nose looks tomato-coloured.
(The chocolate pot de creme is for you, not for your pooch.)

I did feel bad for her but at the same time was PRAYING she’d make the connection between her frolic in the stinky grass and the multiple trips to the tub. No worries, though, her nose always look that color.
Thank you for the chocolate morsel, Barb.

Whoah boy. Have you tried that Nature’s Miracle Skunk Odor Remover stuff?
My dog rolled in crap once years and years ago and that wasn’t a fun time (but not quite so many baths required to get rid of it). My sympathies!

I haven’t tried that but do have a gallon of the basic Nature’s Miracle for pee/puke messes. That stuff is incredible. I think we’ve pretty much eradicated the stench and now just have to find the spot in the yard where she keeps going so we can get that out of here. We’ve been monitoring trips outside to prevent additional rollings.
My dogs have rolled in crap and dead animals and all sorts of stuff that makes me gag just thinking about it. WTF?!
