  1. I love small furry mammals! Especially the cute ones! And, what isn’t cute about a squirrel? or a chipmunk? or a little field mouse? (actually any kind of mouse is pretty darn cute in my book – even the one that popped out of my kitchen drawer once! Yikes!)

    • I agree. Little furries are very cool (big furries are, too). I have to laugh when I catch myself getting agitated with this one for eating so much from the feeder.
I’ve never had a mouse jump out at me from a drawer (yikes, for sure) but did have one run into the room when I was pacing, talking on the phone. I was up on that couch like I was Blondie or something. That reflex must be hard-wired into us because I like mice and snakes and spiders, etc.

      • I think the biggest “startle” I ever had was when I was on a chair in the dining room, changing a light bulb, and a bat flew by me. They make no noise when they fly! I was frozen to the spot! I never found him, either!

          • Yeah – I was freaked out for quite awhile. Then later that year I did have a bat awake from his hibernation & my cats (or the dogs) got him. I woke up at 2 a.m. to his little squeaks. I saved him (it was like -2 degrees outside, so I couldn’t put him out) – lifted him (with a newspaper) into a box. Noticed one of his wings was torn when I did that. Put him in my bathroom – partly on the heated part of the floor and partly off (I didn’t know if he wanted to be warm or not.) Next morning I let him suck some water off the end of a q-tip (don’t ask how I figured that out!) Discovered he liked listening to me sing – that seemed to quiet him. Then took him to a wildlife rescue person that morning. She said he’d be fine. I was thrilled. I’m not too scared of bats any more. I can tell you – being close enough to give them water off a q-tip is amazing. They are about the cutest little mammals in the world!

  3. Tracy, I love your new camera lens that lets us get up close and personal with your feeder friends. I was so intrigued by the red buds on the branches that I didn’t at first notice the little grey bird waiting patiently for its turn at the tray.

    • Bonus points for you! I almost missed that little finch, too. It’s so still and patient as it waits. And waits…
Glad you like the feeder shots. I’m having such fun and want to post more pics.
