Heart to Heart

I haven’t been a good LJ friend lately.
Haven’t read and commented much.
It’s been a rough year.

Despite my absence, I’m going to ask a favor.
Zippy’s mother is going in for heart surgery tomorrow morning.
She has two genetic heart conditions that need repair.

I didn’t write about this before but when Zippy got his heart stents,
they discovered he has an enlarged aorta.
The good news is they measured it again recently and it hadn’t grown.
So he doesn’t need surgery.

But as a result of his situation, his whole family got checked
and we found out his mother’s aorta is also enlarged.
Hers needs to be repaired now.
Plus the leaky valve they discovered.

All this time we’ve been worried about Zippy needing that surgery
and then we find out his mother is having it, instead.

We’re pretty scared.
And scared people don’t tend to project the most comforting thoughts.
So I’m asking if you could please send good thoughts to his mother.
She goes in first thing tomorrow morning.

Thank you so much.
Tracy

  1. Sending lots of good health vibes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and healing white light to Zippy’s mother.
My mother had a “valve job” 12 years ago. She just celebrated her 92nd birthday.

    • Thank you, Barb. I’m so glad your mother is doing well. Her story helped Wildebeest get over some of his fear about his grandmother’s surgery. I told my mother-in-law lots of people were sending her good thoughts and she was grateful. As am I.

    • Lorraine, I wish I could get a hug right now. In person. But I’ll definitely settle for all your love headed our way. It means an awful lot to my mother-in-law having all these good wishes. Thank you.

    • Thank you, Robin. I really believe all these good thoughts are going to keep her afloat. She’s amazed at the support system out there for her, and Zippy and I appreciate it very, very much.

  3. I’m sorry you’re all going through such a difficult and scary time.
    I will send good thoughts.
And if it’s appropriate, google stress and time magazine and maybe dr oz and it will link you to a brief article about how helpful meditating just prior to surgery has been shown to be. If there’s any way to get calmer before the hospital, it seems like that should help speed recovery.
I know. Easy for me to say. (and dr.oz) hugs to you.

    • Thank you, Jeannine, for the kind words and thoughts. I can’t get her to meditate before the surgery but I’m going to do my yoga before heading to the hospital. And I’ve taught Zippy the anti-stress breathing exercises so what I’m hoping is that all our calm and all your good thoughts are going to transfer to her. We’ll work as a team and get through this.
