UPDATE to yesterday’s Elon Musk post

Yesterday I wrote about how Elon Musk is systematically trying to destroy the federal government while also gaining access to our personal information. I also mentioned the decision to shut down USAID and how some Representatives had gathered to denounce that decision.

I want to share additional critiques of what’s happening:

“Donald Trump and his billionaire buddies are determined to take over this government to make it work better for themselves and worse for everyone else.”

That quote pretty much sums up where we’re at.

Solidarity with the people! ✊🏾

    • Hi Rosaliene, I can’t believe they’re in shock after they rightfully spent time campaigning on the threat of fascism and Project 2025. The bigger question is why didn’t the Democrats develop a strategy for how they’d deal with these people in the likely event Trump was elected? They’re acting as if they were caught off-guard when anyone paying attention knew where we were headed.

    • Hi Mara. No, it’s not only you. The Democrats have moved farther and farther right in order to capture those elusive Republican votes, which has only emboldened the worst tendencies of the far-Right. The Democrats have always felt more comfortable punching left than risking hurting Republican feelings.

        • Absolutely. Hakeem Jeffries is the Dems leader in the House and absolutely doesn’t want to upset the donors. Pathetic party in which everyone fails upward…no accountability, ever.
          See this thread from yesterday:

Oh boy, there's more. At a presser minutes ago, Jeffries says he's powerless:JOURNALIST: To what extent will Dems withhold votes in the negotiations? JEFFRIES: Repubs control trifecta, it’s THEIR govt. What leverage do we have? We’re going to continue to try to find bipartisan common ground…

            • Twenty years ago, I was one of many who worked to take over the Dem party from within and saw firsthand how the Dem establishment is motivated, above all else, to protect the status quo. I realized it was a pipedream to think the Dem party could be reformed. There’s nothing left to salvage…it’s all a grift at this point. So, yes. A worker-driven party is needed and I’m hoping what’s happening now will radicalize more people.
