(I’m going to cheat and add some words…)
Today I’m feeling a bit like this squirrel sipping at a less-than-pristine pool: my YA revision process has suddenly turned murky. However, it’s what I’ve got to work with so I need to suck it up. (And maybe sometime soon, some kind being will clean and replenish my brain pan!)

HAPPY HUMP DAY, EVERYONE!
Yesterday three Red-tailed Hawks on a UW-Madison campus ledge
contemplating the edge
and their first fledge*

A few minutes later, two Red-tailed Hawks on ledge
peering over the edge
as they ponder the sibling that just fledged

Today, the one remaining hawk on that ledge,
not overly close to the edge
yet most probably contemplating fledge

fledge* (from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology): the time at which nestlings that are reared in the nest leave the nest, even though their flight abilities may not yet be well developed.
(Okay, a few words: Churchy and Albert are characters from the Pogo comic strip
and they're what my brother and I played with way back when. These and other characters
came in boxes of Biz Laundry Detergent but we no longer have the originals so I bought
these guys on ebay and made them little vests just like the old days.)
