I’ve wanted to post a video of me hooping but wasn’t brave enough.
This morning’s sunshine and my groovy shadow gave me courage.
Here I am hooping to Nick Drake’s "Know."
Enjoy.

WOW!!! I love it 🙂 You are so cool 😀 I feel cool just by association (even though I don’t think I’ll ever be as graceful and rhythmic as you — I certainly can’t hoop at all).

Thank you, Robin! I’m so nervous about doing this but then your comment landed in my mailbox and I felt better!
I could teach you to hoop! Really, I’d love to if you ever wanted to give it a try. My mom is really enjoying herself because it’s such a meditative thing.
Let me know……..

Actually…hm. I have to warn you, though, I’m seriously grace-challenged. That would be fun 🙂 Let me see how my schedule shakes out now that the kiddos are in school–and I have plans the next two weekends…but after that…(You might be sorry you offered, heh).

I’ll get you hooping yet!
If I can get my incredibly self-conscious mother in the spin, I can get you going!

Thank you so much, Kay. I had great fun doing it and also learned more about light and shadows than ever before. 🙂

Wow, you are so graceful and strong. And artistic and rhythmic. And…tuned into something deeper than the music. Thank you for sharing this with us, Tracy.

You’re too kind, Melodye. Thanks for watching and enjoying. I wish we could hoop together because I think you’d really fall into it in a big way. Coming to CO anytime soon? 🙂

That was incredible, Tracy. The beat of the music and movement of the hoop was capitvating. I loved how you showed us your skills in the shadow instead of a full body view, it kept us focused on the rhythm and fluidity. Beautiful–almost magical.

Thank you, Kaelyn. I’m so glad you liked the shadow versus full body view since the full body view intimidates me!

Beautiful, Tracy! I’ve watched it twice now–I’m so amazed at how fluid and easy you make it look. Bravo. 🙂

Great song, great shadow. I tried to hoop at a craft fair last week and thought of you. About six revolutions and my hoop hit the ground. Maybe I needed some Nick Drake?

Hey, I couldn’t keep it up for six revolutions in the beginning. And were you using a heavier hoop or one of those cheapo plastic ones? I could never hoop with those light ones so if you kept it going that long, you’re a hooping champ!
Either way, a little Nick Drake couldn’t hurt the effort. 🙂

can I use any toy hoop? or is there a “better” kind? I am now very excited about hooping!!

Don’t bother with the toy hoops. They’re so light it’s really hard to keep them going. I make my own and here’s the link I used:

But there are lots of places you can buy them online and here’s a good place to start for info:

Okay, now I’m blushing. In the hooping world, I’m pretty low-tech. BUT, I love doing it and that’s what counts.
Thanks for watching and sharing my joy, Jenny.

That was AWESOME.
I’m showing that to my daughter who has started hooping. Do you always hoop to music? I didn’t see an IPOD shadow. Just curious because you seem so in tune with the music. Boombox or brain-wave radio?

P is hooping? Excellent! I wish I’d known that because we could’ve talked shop. 🙂 There are tons of cool videos and how-tos on YouTube so let me know if she wants me to point her in that direction. Or, being a savvy teen, she could probably go to YouTube and put in “hooping.” 🙂
I almost always hoop to music but not with an iPOD (the cord would be a hazard for me). That video was with a boombox but Zippy dubbed over it when he downloaded it to the computer since there was a siren blasting through the neighborhood right then.
Thanks for watching, Linda.
