Today I read this article about Steve Martin’s new CD of original banjo music.
Did you know Steve played banjo?
I did. I saw him in concert waaay back in ’77 when he wore an arrow through his head and
plucked a banjo.
He was very good.
Here’s a clip of Steve with his banjo. It’s kind of like what I witnessed except there weren’t
any Muppets in the audience.
Love it!

I knew about the banjo. And the happy feet.

Ah, the happy feet. I knew I’d forgotten a key element of that time. Thanks for reminding me….I have a great visual going right now.

I half expect to discover he’s invented a new kind of car or uncovered a new species or math theorum… such a Rennaissance man.

He is, isn’t he? I’d love to have beers with him sometime and try to get a glimpse into his mind.

I adore Steve Martin. Smart, sexy, funny–and a banjo player! I know I’m dating myself, but I think he and his SNL compatriots were some of the best comedians ever.

He really is in a whole different class. I gave Wildebeest his memoir and he really liked it. Guess I should read it, too. Have you read it?

My husband received a copy of BORN STANDING UP (ha! love that!) as a gift, but I haven’t read it. This reminds me that I should (for fun, not out of a sense of obligation). I’ll bet it’s stuffed with amazing adventures and insights…

I will read it, too. It’s funny I haven’t already since I think he’s such an amazing and interesting person.

I saw him in concert in either ’78 or ’79! He wore a pink suit, instead of the white one.
So, er, yes, I did indeed know he can play the banjo.
::IS A HUGE STEVE MARTIN FAN::
Although it’s not like I wore his bunny ears in the group National Honor Society picture for the yearbook.
Ahem.
You should read his memoir. It’s engaging and fascinating, and as a fellow-writer, you’ll be very interested in him finding his comedic voice.

So what’s it going to take for you to post that photo of you in the ears? Hmm?
I will read the memoir; you’ve given me the push I needed.

My bro-in-law wanted to learn so my sister got him a banjo for his 50th birthday but I don’t think he’s gotten too far. I wish I could play, also, but am a bit intimidated.
