Last February I proclaimed to the world (um, my little Live Journal circle of friends)
that I wanted to focus on flexibility in 2009.
I hoped to touch my head to my knees by the end of the year.
I’m not quite there.
But as you can see by these photos, I’m definitely making progress:
February 2009 January 2010

Most every morning I start my day with my litte Kundalini Yoga workout dvd.
I love it and not only because it’s helped me become more flexible.
I love it because during the hardest-for-me pose, the "narrator" says PREVAIL!
Wow! I am seriously impressed. You, my friend, have prevailed!

Ta da–absolutely amazing!
Here, the cast of LEGALLY BLONDE, performing “Bend and Snap” in honor of your progress. 🙂

That was so fun, Melodye! I didn’t even know that show existed and now that I’ve seen them stretch way down while wearing those high-heels, well, I’m motivated to keep on stretching!

LOL, and oh my goodness, if you haven’t seen the movie version, you must. It’s pink silliness, through and through, but that scene’s a classic. 🙂

I saw the movie (and enjoyed it very much) but didn’t know about the show. It’s got some attitude!

Re: good idea to take a pic!
I’m really glad I took that original pic because I had it in my head I was much closer to start with. But when I saw that one alongside the new one, I really felt good about my morning routine. Prevail, baby!

Thank you, Carrie. It feels good to see my progress (especially since I had to bail on the push-ups due to my little injury but I know you’re still doing them!)

Wow, you’ve made great progress! I’m even less flexible than you (in the first shot)!

It feels good and I highly recommend it, Robin. I don’t have the tight muscles and stiffness I used to have. Stretching is good for the soul! 🙂

Yay! congrats!!! I love that pose. I need to do it all the time because it makes my back feel so good. I probably don’t look as good as you when I do it, though. Way to go!!!

I bet you look great in that pose, Sarah. Stretching bodies always look good, I think.

Good job! (You’re not afraid of “awakening the Kundalini”? I thought everyone was supposed to be afraid of awakening the Kundalini)

That’s a myth about the Kundalini, Lizzy. They’re really quite friendly, as long as you have a little something ready for them to eat. They’re particular to toast and jam.

Way to go! I need to be more serious about yoga. It feels so good and I need the meditative movement for my brain too…

Once I got in the routine, I could really feel a difference. I had some plotting and characterization issues resolve themselves without me even actively thinking about them. Yoga definitely greases the brain, I think.
By the way, Jackie, I’m so sorry about the cover controversy for MAGIC and hope it ends up in raised awareness plus higher sales (out of support for you).
