This morning I took Wildebeest and Zebu to the airport
and left them at the curb.
They wanted to navigate DIA on their own as they head
to Florida to visit their grandma (my mother) for spring break.
They should be landing in another twenty minutes or so.
When this photo was taken in southern Colorado on spring break in 2000,
I don’t think I could even imagine the day when they’d travel alone.

They will definitely experience higher temps in Florida than we had in 2000,
and I’m almost positive Wildebeest will be in a better frame of mind.
lucky boys, lucky mama!

And now I can fully relax since I just got word they’ve located their grandma and are driving home. π

LMAO!
I can’t stop laughing about ‘Wildebeest’ & ‘Zebu’. I must now find my own children’s tribal names!

Re: LMAO!
Aren’t those great names? They chose them themselves. Let me know what your kids come up with.

That’s about the age of my boys (4 and 7) and I also can’t imagine them being that independent. Day to day it really does feel like they will need me to do everything forever. Nice to get some perspective.

The day will come for you and your boys. My older has flown alone before but each time we went in the airport and got him to the security checkpoint. This time they navigated it on their own (although I found out they called their dad from the train because they’d neglected to get their gate number from the screen and weren’t sure which stop was theirs).

What a cute pic π Our neighbors are heading to FL as well (after the cool wind today, I’m definitely a little envious)! Enjoy your break (time for some romance, right?).

Florida is having some nice weather but we are, too! Isn’t it wonderful today? And yes, we are already enjoying our time alone.

So the Wild Things have migrated south. Good for them, and good for you. Time for writing, romancing, relaxing… whatever suits your fancy. Woo hoo, and have fun!!!!

It feels good all the way around since it’s what all parties wanted. It’s especially great since we’re having Florida-esque weather of our own!

Oh, look at your two little guys! And now they’re off on their own. Something quite satisfying about that, don’t you think?! I hope they have fun…and you too.

Yes, it was satisfying to know they could handle that on their own. Way back when, that reality wasn’t in sight. But we’ve muddled through and reached this point. π

I love the names, too. They chose them (Zebu after his father used that word in a game of Scrabble).

I SO would’ve challenged him on that one. And lost, I bet. π

Zebu: a domesticated bovine mammal, of Asia and Africa, having a prominent hump on the back and a large dewlap.
Not exactly what comes to mind when thinking of my younger, but a most excellent word.
