Today is the end of Zebu’s school year.
His last day of eighth grade and middle school.
The last day to ride the school bus
and witness kids throwing plastic soldiers out the windows at cars,
and other acts of idiocy.
He’s happy.
Happy, happy.
So in honor of his accomplishment
and also to brighten this overcast day,
I bring you a festive American Goldfinch:

We have a new thistle feeder, and this bird swooped in on the second day.
Haven’t seen him since, though, so if he shows up in your yard,
please tell him Tracy says hello.
Gorgeous! And yay for Zebu!
Once in awhile, we get goldfinches, too. I’ll keep an eye out for yours. 😉

Congratulations to Zebu!!! I remember how happy I was when my own schoolbus days were over. Definitely worth a celebratory goldfinch or two.

Hurray for Zebu!!! And please tell Zippy I love this photograph!
We had a huge flock of goldfinches before our backyard neighbor did a hatchet job on his trees. Sad to say, we’re down to just two. Maybe they’ll return next year? I hope so! Tell you what, though: If your beautiful goldfinch appears in my garden, I’ll serve him some Niger seed and then send him on his way back to you.

I will pass along both congrats, Melodye. I was thinking of you this morning, knowing you’re feeling a Zoe void. I hope your backyard is filled with beautiful flowers and lovely birds to ease your hurt.

Yeah, Zebu! Yeah, finch!
T-boy still has five days to go on his 8th grade adventure. Unfortunately, he’s in a junior high, so he’ll be in the same shark tank next year.

Oh, I didn’t know T-boy had another year there. I’m sorry. I know you said the situation had eased somewhat, though. Right? I’m sending a goldfinch his way….

Finches welcome. The situation is better than it was, but I think it is still very hard for him.

Lots of finches coming his way…..
I’m hoping very, very hard that next year is easier for T-boy.

It’ll be nice having them both in the same school. That hasn’t been true for a while. And yes, I’m expecting much joy. 🙂

CONGRATULATIONS Zebu! High School. Sigh. I would never do it again (and I enjoyed it). Pretty birdy.

Thanks, Tracy. I most definitely wouldn’t do high school again (didn’t much enjoy it) but am sharing tips on surviving it in the best way possible.

Thank you, Karen. Yes, it’s the big leagues. Both boys in high school at the same time, and Wildebeest is looking forward to it. Zebu, too, I think.
