Wildebeest Does Hawaii April 12, 2011 / Tracy Abell Oh no! A Wildebeest washed up on the beach! Is he okay? Whew.Crisis averted. (Next time I want him to smile, I’ll have to try a splash of cold, salt water in the face.) We did have a lovely time. I wish I could’ve brought home a little sand and sea. Building sand castles is so therapeutic. LikeLike
The water wasn’t freezing cold but definitely chilly. There were snorkelers in the area and they all wore wet suits. LikeLike
It was a nice series of photos, and I’m glad to have that evidence of his happiness in that moment. LikeLike
I thought of you while there, Barb, because the Hawaii bird book showed a number of owls. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any but did have fun watching the shorebirds. LikeLike
Thanks anyway! I think I may have seen a pueo while in Maui, but it was just for a fleeting moment, and I may have imagined it. LikeLike
I just looked up the Pueo in my bird book…wow! That would’ve been very cool to see. Owls are absolutely stunning. No wonder you’re so enamored. LikeLike
He was very happy right then and I’m glad I documented the moment. Sometimes moms need evidence. 🙂 LikeLike
We sure did utilize that little stretch of beach, and I sure do miss being there. But I’m glad to have the pictures to keep the memories alive. LikeLike
Zippy kindly bought me a Hawaii Birds book so I could figure out who was who. I fell in love with the mynas. Thank you for thinking of me, Lorraine. 🙂 LikeLike
GREAT photos! I’m pretty sure my M would be crushing on the Wildebeest, were I to share his photos with her. He’s just her type. LikeLike
Thanks, Kelly. As for Wildebeest being M’s type…I guess she likes them loud, brash, and a little bit salty. LikeLike
