Revisions Accomplished!

Thanks for your kind words and empathy in reply to my post about losing hours of revision work.  I’m happy to say I got that work done (again) yesterday and while it was AWFUL at the start, I pushed on through to the other side.  Several friends commented that the revisions would be better this time around, and it’s really true.  My brain remembered much of what I’d done PLUS it saw ways to add layers of complexity to the story.  Which might explain why these revisions took several hours longer than the original.  I got done just in time for dinner last night (compliments of Zippy Ramone).

That’s not to say I wasn’t on the verge of tears several times or that I didn’t contemplate throwing myself on the floor for a full-blown temper tantrum or that I didn’t make sure Zippy understood exactly how difficult it was redoing the work. 

Notice I said “Revisions Accomplished” not “Revisions Accomplished Gracefully.”

Now I can move ahead!

  7. Well done, Tracy! I’m glad to hear it. You deserved a little temper tantrum, (actually, a large one) so that really would’ve been OK. And yay to Zippy, too–a couple more weeks of meals and he should be able to redeem himself. :o)

    • Thanks, Kathy. I just showed Zippy your comment and he said, “Tell her it’s a rare day when you cook.”
      True. Zippy is extraordinary in all ways domestic (and has saved me from computer catastrophe MANY times) which is why I couldn’t take his head off for that mistake.

  9. I completely deleted a 20 page paper in college once and totally freaked! You are grace under pressure to turn around and make it even better than it was before. Woot!
    (Your new names are cracking me up. :D)

    • AARGH! I would’ve freaked about that, too. In college I could barely summon the wherewithal to compose a 20-page paper, so to do it a second time would’ve required superhuman abilities.
      Glad the new names are making you smile. 🙂

    How the ice at your house? BTW, saw a whole herd of elk right by 93, across from Fossil Trace golf course — DS said, “Why are they down here?” Everyone was stopping to gawk, even the police (who had their lights flashing)…just a little Golden moment 🙂

      Ice just making everything look that kind of sage green right now. I like looking at it. And as long as the roads don’t get slick, I’m okay. (Not that the weather gods pay me any mind).
      I was just on 93 on Wed and didn’t see anything as cool as a herd of elk. Lucky you!

    • Thanks, Sheela. But I’m only to the end of where I was on Tuesday when I quit for the day. I was in re-do mode. But now I can move ahead with the other revisions!

      • Ah — forgive me if I’m a little behind. I’m at my parents’ on vacation, so I don’t get to keep up with LJ as much as I’d like — I just check in whenever I get a chance. I saw revisions accomplished, and went with that! Anyway, you’re still moving forward, that’s all good. 🙂
