Soliciting Good Thoughts

Because weekends seem to be quiet on LJ and because this weekend will probably be quieter than most, I’m posting now.

On Memorial Day, Zippy Ramone and I will be running the BolderBoulder 10K.  As some of you know, my health crashed in August 2004 just three months after I’d run a very strong BolderBoulder.  I haven’t run it since.

It’s been a long road to recovery but I’m going to run  the 6.2 miles this Monday.

I’m nervous.  Running this race feels like my official announcement to the world that I’m better.  Whole.  Tracy, again.

I want to do well.

I’m asking for good thoughts sent my way.  Our race wave takes off at 7:11 a.m. (Mountain Time) on Monday morning.  I hope to finish at about 8:00.

I’d very, very much appreciate your thoughts and support.  And if anyone knows any magic voodoo to banish exercise-induced asthma, please send that along, too!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

I’m so inspired by your courage, perserverence, and bold spirit. This is but one manifestation of your indominable spirit. Go, Tracy, go!
(I get up early, and I’ve put the event into my Outlook calendar. I’ll be thinking of you…)

  4. 6.2 miles in under an hour? That’s totally Amazing. Not to mention the fact that you’re going to wake up just to get to the race by 7AM. You see, I’d never even make it that far.
I don’t have to worry about converting Eastern time to Mountain time and whatnot cause I’ll be wearing my official TEAM VINCA T-SHIRT all day long!
    GO, GO, GO!

    • YES! I must remember to run relaxed. I often have to tell myself to drop the shoulders and loosen up.
Thank you, Laurie, for your good thoughts.
You have a beautiful weekend, too!

    • You’re right about entering being a big accomplishment! I’ve set a time goal for myself but whatever happens, I’m in the race!
Thank you very much for your good thoughts, Lorraine.

    • Thank you, Dot, for the good thoughts! I’m shooting for that time and hope I get it but have to remember how incredible it is to be in the race again. The BolderBoulder inspires fast times, though, because of all the community support (people out on lawns, bands playing along the route, etc).
Thanks again for your good wishes.

  20. Congratulations for running the 10K – that’s amazing! I’m sending tons of good thoughts your way.
I don’t have any magic voodoo, but I came down with asthmatic symptoms for several months this winter and found that Singulair and regularly using an inhaler worked best. I still take the Singulair, but rarely use the inhaler anymore.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I can’t wait to hear about the race!

    • I never got around to seeing a doctor about an inhaler because the asthma was lessening. It’s just in the last few weeks that it’s kicked back into gear. I’m hoping a little coffee before the race will help open the airways. I’ll check into the Singulair, too.
Thanks for the tips and your good wishes, Mindy! It’s so nice having all these good vibes coming my way.
