This year rather than a running goal,
I have a flexibility goal: By the end of the year,
I’d like to touch my head to my knees.
You can see I have a ways to go.
Yoga, do your stuff.

I can barely touch the tops of my toes with my legs straight — you’re a lot closer than I am 😉

I’d get stretching then! 🙂
It’s sad how inflexible I am but even sadder that I’m more flexible than my boys.

Didn’t mean to make your head explode. Wait ’til you see me with my head on my knees. HA.

Whoa, that’d be quite an achievement!!!!
One of the most important things I’m learning from my instructor is that keeping a straight spine and legs, while balancing equally on all four corners of your feet, is critically important (and such a challenge!). She (Megan) gives us tips to avoid injury and helps us settle our bodies/minds into the pose.

It’s really true about setting our bodies and minds into the pose. I can feel myself getting a wee bit better with that. Good thing December is so far away.

Thank you, Kelly. I wanted to put this out into the world to hold myself accountable.

Ever try pilates? I went to one class & it kicked my butt.

No, but my sister did. She really liked it. I like this kundalini yoga tape I do each morning because I can just do 25 minutes and still feel loose and energized.

I’ve read that yogis say you must be very careful about awakening your kundalini.

Mine’s a pretty sound sleeper. But you’re right, when it awakens, look out!

I just tried it and I’m no closer than you are. I’ll try again tomorrow. And I bet emptying my bladder first will help.

Empty bladder and blow nose and, in general, get rid of all extra bodily fluids before starting.
Maybe we should shoot for the head-on-knee goal together?!

Okay, I’ll try it. But I am NOT posting a photo of me with my butt in the air. Yours is very cute, by the way.
What are you doing to help get your hands to the floor? Are there any tricks or secrets to doing it?

Come on, everybody….butts in the air!
Ahem.
Relax your breath and your mind, and you will find greater flexibility. (Doesn’t that sound wise?)

When we put our butts into the air in yoga yesterday, someone let loose with a giant fart.
When he broke wind, it broke my concentration. Sigh. I’ve got a long way to go before I’m able to silence my inner laughter, er, chatter.

I would’ve lost my concentration, too. Poor guy. That’s a tough test for everyone involved. (That kitty cracks me up every time).

Flexibility is so important. In a mad rush to get my fitness regime started, I did too much on the treadmill, using the incline. Yowch! My calf muscles ached for days. I could barely walk.
I’ve got to be patient with myself–start slowly and stretch afterward, no matter how much of a hurry I’m in.

That’s such a hard lesson to learn, I think. I do that, too, and then have to slow down even more while I recover. That’s why I’m really liking this little yoga practice I’ve got going. Not too intense yet very satisfying.
We can remind each other to be patient, Barb.
