Sovereign Immunity, My Ass

This week I went to Goodwill and bought a blow dryer.
Not because I have a new hairdo.
But because I needed to remove this from my car’s bumper:

I’m disgusted by Obama’s Department of Justice.
Which means I’m disgusted by Obama.

This week the DoJ went even farther than Bush/Cheney’s claims of "state’s secrets" privilege
in regards to illegal wiretapping.
Obama claimed "sovereign immunity" to any lawsuit against the government
unless there is "willful disclosure" of the illegally gathered information.

Sovereign immunity.
I cannot believe the man who said he wanted to bring transparency to government
is now violating our constitution in order to protect Bush/Cheney from prosecution.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Or, in this case, get even worse.

  1. Do you sometimes relate to this scene from LOTR?
Gollum: Sméagol… Why does he cry, Sméagol?
Smeagol: Cruel men hurts us. Master tricksed us.
Gollum: Of course he did. I told you he was tricksy. I told you he was false.
Smeagol: Master is our friend… our friend.
    Gollum: Master betrayed us.
Smeagol: No, not it’s business. Leave us alone.
Gollum: Filthy little hobbites. They stole it from us.
    Smeagol: No… No.
    Faramir: What did they steal?
    Gollum: Myyy PRECIOUSSS.
Precious being our Constitution, of course. And I do realize it’s an imperfect analogy. But honest to Pete, I don’t get what’s going on behind the scenes. It doesn’t make any sense.

    • I’ve read some stuff about the GOP threatening all Obama’s judicial nominees if he allows the prosecution of Bush/Cheney. But that doesn’t carry water since of course the GOP will obstruct; that’s all it does right now. I don’t know how many votes Obama will pick up from this crap.
It all goes back to the fact we should’ve impeached Nixon. Then Bush/Cheney wouldn’t have been able to get away with their expansion of executive power, and Obama’s expansion. It’s a runaway train at this point.
And yes, your little LOTR snippet makes sense right here and now.
