Close-Up on my July 4th

Zippy, Zebu, and I spent about three hours
at a family picnic in a cow pasture.

You read that correctly.

Zippy’s mother’s family has land out in the country
and they’ve built a permanent picnic shelter out there.
In the midst of the cacti and cow patties.

I had a great time with my camera.

Globemallow (?) and Cow Poop

Bone At Rest

Ants At Work

Alien Insect Touring the Salad

Zebu Warding Off the Paparazzi

Wildflower Bouquet

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
And that the fireworks have quit in your neighborhood.
Ahem.

  1. Mmm, cow pies and bug salad!
Sounds like a great fourth–love your pics.
And as I’m writing this, the kids out behind our house are setting off more explosions. The poor dog has been stuck under the couch for a week…

    • Cow Pies and Bug Salad! That could be the start of a fascinating menu. Or not.
I hope those darned kids stop with the explosions! My poor dogs are nervous wrecks. Here’s a hug for your poor pooch…

    • I did have a great time. I’ve (re)discovered that cameras are a great tool for getting through certain social events. I’m more relaxed if I’m looking through a viewfinder.
      Hope you had fun, too.

  3. Ooh – love the color on that purply-blue flower. I think I’d like to paint a room that color. Again. I’m pretty sure I’ve used something like it once a long time ago in a different dwelling.

    • My bathroom is a shade of that flower and I have to say that while I love the color, it’s too cool for the bathroom. I need to repaint it. Someday. You know, like, never. HA.

    • Wildebeest doesn’t have much interest in us these days. He was at a friend’s house. I can’t really blame him for missing this particular event, though. It’s a whole other mind-set/attitude about the world/politics/humanity. Guns. Zebu overheard someone teaching a little boy that Obama wanted to take away his guns. Then Z asked if they’re all Republicans and I told him, pretty much. He was happy to leave.
Which is why I was SO glad I had my camera!
