Earlier this week I shared our bird seed experiment.
Well, today it’s official:
our neighborhood birds did NOT like the hot meats bird seed.
With the possible exception of this Black-capped Chickadee:

This morning Zippy cleaned out the feeders
(the hot meats are in a pie tin on the patio table
in case that chickadee comes back for more),
and filled the feeders with "boring" old safflower seeds.
The House Finches are very, very happy.
And we’re thrilled to have them back.

Ha, even the black-capped Chickadee looks rather tentative on his approach to those not-so-hot seeds.
Love that, when you refilled the bird feeder with “boring old safflower seeds,” the house finch dived right in.

That’s what I thought, too: tentative. If only I had audio to go along with the fast-eating finch.

Hah! It does look like it’s thinking, what *is* this stuff? about the hot meats bird seed. Glad the more popular buffet offering is back in action. Bird party at Tracy’s place!

Cocking his little head in puzzlement.
Not such a party today, though. They might all be a little wary of our buffet.

In no time the House Finches will spread the word that the popular buffet is back. You might have to start taking reservations 😉

They weren’t around much yesterday and no sign of them today. Zippy washed out the feeder so I don’t think it’s residual hot-stuff. Hmm, maybe I need to launch a publicity campaign?
