Sunday Confessional: It’s taken me five days to write 350 words

I’m writing a new opening for my madcap middle-grade novel, one that (hopefully) sets the correct tone for the manuscript. It’s been a struggle. Over the past five days I’ve written draft after draft after draft and today started thinking I’d be better off if I gave a chimpanzee a typewriter and locked her in here while I took a long nap.

Time to step away from the keyboard . . .

    • Thank you much, Marcia. I’m pleased to report that I’ve written a new opening that (for the time being, anyway) serves the purpose. I’m sure it’ll need some more tweaking (at the least), but it’s close enough that I could continue moving ahead with the rest of the revisions.

Like you, I found it very difficult to begin! Best of luck with whatever you’re working on at the moment. I’m sure you’re also facing down the page in one way or another.
