  1. I found that I could get myself back to sleep after waking up with stress worrying by hypothetically planning to redecorate a room in my house. It’s a diversion from worrying, but since it gives your mind something to process, it works. Since it’s not stress-related, however, it tends to allow you to relax and go back to sleep. Plus it helps you formulate redecoration plans!

      • I found that it worked repeatedly. And that eventually, my brain wouldn’t bother to go to the stress cycle, since I always pushed it to redecorating, and even more eventually, I stopped waking at all.

        I’m glad to hear it worked for you as well. (It worked for my Aunt Martha, too, who planned several home improvement projects this way. The ones she followed through on turned out well!)
